The quiet side streets near Yonghegong, or Lama Temple, in north central Beijing were an excellent venue. Many people out strolling the neighborhood were curious and stopped to chat and have a look. We plan to return to this area soon for a full day tour of Beijing hutongs, or alleys, that are the remnants of old Beijing.
